Tour Plan

Day 1: Pickup from Dhaka & Overnight Train to Khulna

Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel or Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. You’ll be transferred to Dhaka Railway Station to board the famous Chitra Express train departing at 7:00 PM to Khulna. Enjoy the scenic ride through Bangladesh’s rural heartlands, culminating in a restful overnight journey. (If your tour starts on Sunday, the train is off; a comfortable A/C bus will be arranged.)

Day 2: Arrival in Khulna & Sundarbans Entry

Arrive early in the morning, around 5:30 AM, at Khulna Railway Station. After breakfast at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to the Khulna Launch Ghat by 6:30 AM to board your private RVT vessel, specially arranged for your 3-day Sundarbans wildlife exploration. The boat cruise begins as you enter the dense and mystical mangrove forest of the Sundarbans, the world’s largest tidal halophytic mangrove ecosystem and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will enjoy fresh, scenic river views and a traditional breakfast on board as you navigate through narrow waterways lined with lush greenery. Your first stop is the Herbaria Mangrove Trail, where you will embark on a guided forest trek along wooden pathways, learning about the unique mangrove flora and fauna, spotting vibrant birds, monitor lizards, and perhaps elusive river dolphins. Later in the afternoon, cruise to Kachikhali, a peaceful area known for its serene waterways and abundant wildlife. Enjoy a mesmerizing sunset over the mangroves, then settle in for your first night on board, dining on freshly prepared local cuisine while surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

Day 3: Jungle Safari in Katka & Kachikhali

Wake up early to the sounds of the Sundarbans and enjoy breakfast while cruising toward Katka, a prime location for wildlife spotting. At Katka, disembark for an exhilarating jungle safari, walking through thick mangrove forests with your expert guide pointing out various flora and fauna. Visit the Katka Sea Beach, where the mangrove forest meets the Bay of Bengal, a unique spot for both photography and birdwatching. Then, climb the Katka Watch Tower—a wooden observation tower rising above the treetops. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the mangrove canopy and spot wildlife such as spotted deer, monkeys, and, if lucky, the elusive Royal Bengal tiger in its natural habitat. After a packed day of trekking and wildlife observation, return to your boat for lunch, and spend the afternoon cruising slowly through the waterways, keeping an eye out for crocodiles and kingfishers. Later, visit the Karamjal Wildlife Centre, an important conservation station housing a crocodile breeding program. Learn about ongoing efforts to protect endangered species and the delicate ecosystem of the Sundarbans. Your day ends with a peaceful overnight stay on the boat near Dhangmari, with dinner served onboard under the starlit sky.

Day 4: Karamjal Exploration & Return to Khulna

Start the day with an early morning visit to the Karamjal Wildlife Centre. Here, you will walk along elevated wooden pathways that provide close encounters with the Sundarbans’ rich biodiversity, including a variety of birds such as kingfishers, herons, and sea eagles. The centre also educates visitors on the environmental challenges faced by the mangrove forest and its inhabitants. After this immersive experience, enjoy lunch on board before beginning your journey back to Khulna. The boat cruise offers one last chance to appreciate the peacefulness and beauty of the mangrove waterways. Upon arrival in Khulna in the late afternoon, check into your hotel for some relaxation. The evening is free for you to explore Khulna’s local markets, taste traditional Bangladeshi street food, or simply unwind in your comfortable accommodation.

Day 5: Bagerhat Historical Tour & Return to Dhaka

Following breakfast, embark on a full-day private guided tour to the historic city of Bagerhat, known as the “City of Mosques” and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient city is famed for its 15th-century Islamic architecture and was established by the legendary saint and general Khan Jahan Ali. Visit the Sixty Dome Mosque (Shait Gumbad Mosque), one of the largest and most impressive mosques in Bangladesh, boasting 60 domes and intricate terracotta work. Explore the Nine-Domed Mosque, the Ronvijoypur Mosque, and the Zinda Pir Mosque, each with its own unique architectural style and historical significance. Stop by the Tomb of Khan Jahan Ali, a revered figure who played a crucial role in the spread of Islam and the development of this region. Afterward, visit the Bagerhat Museum to deepen your understanding of the city’s rich history and culture. Enjoy lunch featuring authentic Bangladeshi cuisine at a local restaurant before returning to Khulna in the afternoon. At night, board the Sundarban Express train departing at 9:45 PM for your return journey to Dhaka. On Tuesdays when the train is off, an air-conditioned bus transfer will be provided instead. Rest comfortably on your way back to the capital.

Day 6: Arrive Back in Dhaka & Tour Conclusion

A trip of a lifetime.

Staying entrenched in the Mangroves with easy access from our boat to the channels and islands of the Subdarbans. We had many excursions on our flat bottom canoe -all of them brilliant...

Sundarbans Tour, great trip

Great experience to go through the larges mangrove forest by boat and stay overnight on the vessel on the rivers. Even though accommodation and facilities are very basic on board I really liked the trip. Mam Holidays was very helpful to arrange a day-time journey back to Dhaka. My guide, Mizan gave me a lot of valuable information during our stay in the Sundarbans..

5 day Sundarbans Tour

This was a magnificent tour, all that we wsihed for and more, although the tigers did not come to see us. From the moment we were met on the steamer in Dhaka to the end of the tour we were looked after in a friendly, professional way. The driver was good and managed traffic well. In Khulna we wandered round local shops with no hassle, feeling very safe. The smaller boat that took us round Sundarbans was great, a lovely atmosphere created by the captain who was excited when he showed us dolphins and a crocodile. The guides were knowledgable and knew where to find birds, deer and a tiger paw print. The boat staff kept the boat well, very clean, lovely food and staff were always aware of our needs. I would recommend this tour and Bangladesh as a fascinating, safe country to visit..
