Sundarbans Tour, great trip

Great experience to go through the larges mangrove forest by boat and stay overnight on the vessel on the rivers. Even though accommodation and facilities are very basic on board I really liked the trip. Mam Holidays was very helpful to arrange a day-time journey back to Dhaka. My guide, Mizan gave me a lot of valuable information during our stay in the Sundarbans..

5 day Sundarbans Tour

This was a magnificent tour, all that we wsihed for and more, although the tigers did not come to see us. From the moment we were met on the steamer in Dhaka to the end of the tour we were looked after in a friendly, professional way. The driver was good and managed traffic well. In Khulna we wandered round local shops with no hassle, feeling very safe. The smaller boat that took us round Sundarbans was great, a lovely atmosphere created by the captain who was excited when he showed us dolphins and a crocodile. The guides were knowledgable and knew where to find birds, deer and a tiger paw print. The boat staff kept the boat well, very clean, lovely food and staff were always aware of our needs. I would recommend this tour and Bangladesh as a fascinating, safe country to visit..

Definitely off the beaten path!

Relaxing and fascinating tour in which gave a good introduction to Bangladesh and a completely Islamic culture. Very nice to have a guide who knew the ropes on how and when do do everything. Looking forward to my next trip to Banhgladeshj hopefully in the next few years!.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Pickup and Transfer from Dhaka to Khulna

Your adventure begins in Dhaka with a smooth pick-up from your Dhaka hotel or Dhaka airport between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Our friendly representative will ensure a seamless transfer to the Khulna Railway Station, where you’ll board the train at 7:00 PM for an overnight journey to Khulna. As the train makes its way through the countryside, you’ll be able to unwind and take in the rural scenery, giving you a taste of what’s to come in the Sundarbans wildlife safari the following day. The night will be spent onboard, resting comfortably in preparation for the exciting adventures awaiting you.

Day 2: Khulna to Sundarbans

Arrive in Khulna early in the morning, around 5:30 AM. After disembarking, our team will assist with a quick transfer to the Khulna Launch Ghat by 6:30 AM. You’ll take a boat ride to the Dhangmari Forest Office, arriving between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM. After completing the necessary forest permits and meeting with the armed forest guard, we will set sail for your first destination: Herbaria Mangrove Trail. The Herbaria Mangrove Trail is an immersive experience through dense mangrove forests where you’ll see the unique flora and fauna that define the Sundarbans. You may encounter a variety of bird species, monkeys, and perhaps even the elusive Bengal tiger. After exploring Herbaria, the boat will continue to the Kachikhali tourist spot, where you will spend the night on the vessel, tucked in the serenity of the mangrove-lined rivers. You can enjoy dinner under the stars as the sounds of the jungle lull you to sleep, ready for more exciting adventures tomorrow.

Day 3: Exploring Kachikhali and Katka

Wake up early for a scenic Sundarbans boat ride along the Kachikhali Channel. This peaceful cruise takes you deeper into the wilderness, with potential wildlife sightings along the way. After the boat ride, you’ll return to the vessel for a delicious breakfast before preparing for the next stop: Katka. As you approach Katka, the Katka Sea Beach comes into view, offering a tranquil escape. You’ll have the chance to explore this beautiful area, perhaps even taking a refreshing dip in the sea. Afterward, head to the Katka Watch Tower, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding forest and river. The surrounding wild forest is home to a range of wildlife, including the Bengal tiger, making it an excellent spot for Sundarbans tiger spotting. After lunch, the boat will head to the Katka office side, where you can explore one of the largest mangrove forests in the world, marveling at the ecosystem’s diversity. As the sun begins to set, you will embark on an evening boat cruise to the Karamjal Wildlife Centre, where you will learn about conservation efforts aimed at preserving this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the night on the boat near the Dhangmari Forest Office, surrounded by the rich sounds of nature.

Day 4: Visit to Karamjal Wildlife Centre and Return to Khulna

Today begins with a visit to the Karamjal Wildlife Centre, where you’ll encounter local wildlife, including spotted deer, crocodiles, and various bird species. The centre is an important site for Sundarbans eco-tourism, promoting environmental conservation. After your visit, enjoy a peaceful boat ride back to Khulna, where you will arrive in the afternoon. In Khulna, check into your hotel, relax, and reflect on the Sundarbans wildlife watching experience. You can take some time to explore the local area, enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant, and unwind. Prepare for the next day's journey to Bagerhat.

Day 5: Bagerhat Exploration

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bagerhat, which is about an hour’s drive from Khulna. Upon arrival, embark on a Bagerhat sightseeing tour that covers some of the most important cultural and architectural sites in the region. Start with the Shait-Gumbad Mosque, a striking example of Bagerhat UNESCO tour sites, known for its nine domes.
